Connected to
Other Faithful United Methodists
As
Christians, we are first and foremost connected to God, in and through
Jesus Christ, Our Lord and Savior. Those of us who are also members of
the United Methodist Church (UMC) have vowed to contribute our presence,
service, and gifts to the UMC. We are governed by our
Book of Discipline. We
worship and study together using
our Holy Bible,
Methodist Hymnal, Book of Worship,
and John Wesley’s Sermons. We are connected together in our
Local Churches, Districts, Annual Conferences, Jurisdictions, and
General Conference.
We, the
NIC
VOICE, encourage each other to develop
connections with other United Methodists, locally and around the
world, who are likewise dedicated to serving Jesus Christ in faithful
stewardship of our Wesleyan heritage and are working for renewal and
revival of the UMC.
We
invite you to get connected more fully. These groups throughout the
UMC in the United States have chosen to be part of The Voice Circuit
and they affirm the orthodox understanding of the Apostles
Creed. They have resources and materials you may find
helpful in your growth as a Disciple of Jesus Christ. Check them out!
We
are an unofficial group of laity within the Illinois Great Rivers
Conference of The United Methodist Church who came together in the fall
of 2000. We have become incorporated and are tax-exempt with
Contribution Deductibility under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal
Revenue Code. Our name is
IGRAC Laity In Action, Inc.
We are dedicated to the pursuit of the six Purpose Statements (below)
and our efforts are coordinated by a Board of Directors (shown below).
What we seek is simply accountability. We expect our leadership
(bishops; cabinets; and pastors) to be true to their vows of ordination;
and to preach and teach within the theology and doctrinal boundaries as
expressed in The Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church; and
to administer all facets of the Discipline with the integrity mandated
and implicit to their responsibilities.
IGRAC Laity In Action, Inc. is one of a growing number of laity groups
across the USA working together seeking renewal of a denomination that
was once faithful to Scripture and Wesleyan doctrine.
We invite all laity within the Illinois Great Rivers Conference to take
a stand and join with us as we work together in support of our Purpose
Statement. We urge you to do so by completing and returning the “Request
for Laity Support” form below. Your comments, suggestions and ideas are
welcome. Together, we CAN make a difference.
We seek His guidance and pray that His Will be done throughout His
Church.
UMUnity,
Inc. consists of lay people
and clergy in the Desert Southwest Annual Conference of the
United Methodist Church who have joined to promote Christian thinking in
response to the pressures being put on our Annual and General
Conferences regarding the issue of ordination of practicing homosexuals
and same sex unions.
We advocate for retention of the
provisions of the 2000 Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church
pertaining to the practice of homosexuality, proscribing ordination of
such practitioners and prohibiting Methodist clergy from officiating at
same sex unions or using United Methodist facilities for such unions. In
the seminars that we sponsor, we offer love, hope and ministry to
homosexuals and their families and friends.
Various petitions were submitted to the
2000 General Conference of The United Methodist Church seeking changes
in the Discipline of the United Methodist Church to approve same sex
unions and to allow ordination of practicing homosexuals. These
petitions were not passed, affirming the historic position of the Holy
Scriptures (Old and New Testaments), United Methodism and this
conference.
Materials related to these issues have
been prayerfully developed with the desire to seek God’s will. These
materials are available on this web site.

Methodist Laity Reform Movement is a growing movement of Iowans who
are loyal members of The United Methodist Church. We are working to
reform our Church, get the Church out of partisan politics, and help it
return to its Wesleyan roots as an alive, growing, evangelical Church
that strongly upholds the traditional Christian faith and joyfully
offers Christ to all people.
